Paramount slashes ‘Friday The 13th’ Reboot

By Phillip Acevedo on 02/06/2017 at 8:01 pm

Pun intended.

On Monday, Paramount studios announced that they will be putting the next installment of the Friday The 13th series on ice.

The iconic Jason Vorhees was going to get his reboot (again). And it was set for an October release. The project has been developing for several years.

Hope for a 2017 release was very possible when Michael Bay’s production company Platinum Dunes, along with Warner Bros and New Line, jumped on the project.

Aaron Guzikowski, who wrote Prisoners, wrote the script for the what-would-have-been the 13th Jason movie.

Sources have told Variety that studio cancelled the horror reboot for several reasons: the $21 million budget and the disappointing box office performance from Rings.
