Beetlejuice 2: Do we really need it?

For the past couple years, rumors have been circling the web about a possibility of Tim Burton’s classic Beetlejuice getting a sequel.

Because we live in an age where nearly every movie is getting a sequel or remake, these rumors were actually believable. Lately, we’ve been seeing original films getting a sequel nearly 20 years after their original release. Independence Day 2 is seriously happening. So it’s no surprise that Beetlejuice could fall under that category, right?

There even have been fan made Photoshop posters of “Beetlejuice 2” circling social networks that have been getting millions of views. So this shows that there actually are lots of people who are hoping to see “The Ghost with the Most” return to theaters.

Well, it just so happens that Lydia Deetz herself, Winona Ryder was on Late Night with Seth Myers and confirmed that she is definitely in Beeltjuice 2 with Michael Keaton and Tim Burton will be directing!

Tim Burton himself, while promoting last year’s Big Eyes, went on record and said that Beetlejuice 2 is happening. Back in the early 90’s, there were talks about a Beetlejuice sequel titles “Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian”

But here’s the question: do we really need a Beetlejuice 2?

Tim Burton’s last few movies haven’t been performing well in the box office, or with critics. Michael Keaton is on fire right now thanks to his stunning performance in Birdman. And Winona Ryder….well

The first Beetlejuice film had a solid beginning, middle and end. Where can they take these characters to next? And let’s look at Tim Burton’s most recent films, shall we? If they go along with a sequel to Beetlejuice, are we to expect it to be a CG fest like Alice in Wonderland or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? Will Keaton and Ryder be standing in front of a green screen the whole movie? What roles will Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter play?

It’s cool to see that Tim Burton wants to work with Michael Keaton again, but does it REALLY have to be Beetlejuice 2? Lately, these unnecessary sequels that take over 20 years to make haven’t been doing too well, right?

Who knows what to expect in this sequel. For now, let’s enjoy this beautiful scene from the original:

But we wanna know what you think! Do you think we really need a BeelteJuice sequel? Let us know! Axial On !
