EW released our first look at the re-imagined Ghostface serial killer mask for Scream: The TV Series.
If you take a look at the image, you would instantly notice that the mask has gotten a very different look. It looks a little more human. You can take the Michael Myers mask, add a little bit of Jason’s hockey mask, and drop the lower jaw….and BAM! New Ghostface mask.
Executve Producer of the show said, “The original mask is so iconic. If you were to have that mask in a television series, but you weren’t following any of the characters from the original, I believe that would be misleading the audience.”
Wes Craven himself said, “The new mask looks cool and scary and takes the series into a new direction. It also ties into the story, which I won’t give away.”
Back in October, it was announced that the Scream franchise would be getting the TV treatment (produced by MTV no less).
The TV series is obviously going a different direction, but lets hope we still get the same wit and smart dialogue we all saw in the film franchise. As a fan of the movie, I think the mask looks like shit (like BDSM shit) and I don’t know why there’s even a show being made. But as I always say when there’s an upcoming remake, or awesome movie franchise turned soon-to-be TV series, “We’ll wait and see, I guess.”
Can we just get one of Ben Stein’s masks instead?
Scream: The TV Series is coming to MTV June 30th.
What do you think of the new Ghostface mask? Are you looking forward to Scream: The TV series? Let’s discuss!
